This vacation house was to be constructed in the village of Vittorito, Abruzzo.
The site was originally occupied by a sawmill, no longer active, however, the solid stone walls had been standing for many years. These walls became the ‘parti’ for the design. Within it I imagined the new dwelling to rise as a flower in a vase. The noble archway and the oval windows spoke of permanence and historical connection. The design of the house is set back from the stone walls allowing an airy space between it and the adjacent alleyways.
